Pig Dome Construction

The 615 square foot pig dome can be created very economically almost anywhere in the world. Rebar is one of the most commonly available building materials. (Materials cost in the Dominican Republic is around $400, not including the cost of shipping the donated billboard fabric.)

The dome is made primarily out of 5/8" rebar and discarded 12 oz. per square yard vinyl fabric that was previously used in very large bill boards. It has further potential an emergency shelter as a dome can be built in two days by two men.

Pig-ready domes include horizontal pig fencing also made of 5/8" rebar, feeders and a watering system.

A manual for constructing these domes is being prepared.
